The Marcos Jr.
Legacy
I have always believed that the strength of a nation is measured not just within its borders, but in how it is seen, heard, and respected around the world.
I have always believed that the strength of a nation is measured not just within its borders, but in how it is seen, heard, and respected around the world.
We have built stronger ties with old friends and forged new partnerships with nations that share our hopes for peace, prosperity, and progress.
Together, we signed important bilateral agreements — on trade, defense, agriculture, climate action, digital economy, maritime cooperation, and labor deployment.
I stood before the Australian Parliament — the first Filipino president to do so — and made it clear: the Philippines will always stand for peace, for partnership, and for the rules that keep our region safe.
When I met with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, I brought with me the voices of thousands of our OFWs who had been waiting for years. I asked not for promises, but for justice. Today, that justice is being fulfilled—₱29 billion in unpaid salaries are finally being returned to our modern-day heroes.
In the United Arab Emirates, I appealed for mercy and compassion. The result: 363 Filipinos were granted royal pardon. Many of them have now come home—free, forgiven, and reunited with their loved ones.
I made sure to meet with our kababayans on many trips I made abroad. I listened to their stories, their hopes, and their dreams for their children. And I promised them that their government will always have their back.
At home, I welcomed heads of state who traveled here — some for the first time in decades — reaffirming the Philippines’ growing role in shaping a safer, more connected, and more prosperous region.
For the first time, the Philippines stood shoulder to shoulder with two of the world’s leading democracies — the United States and Japan — in a historic trilateral summit.
As we host ASEAN under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the Philippines leads with purpose and principle. We are steering regional cooperation toward economic resilience, digital transformation, and lasting stability in the Indo-Pacific.

When I met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the APEC Summit in Thailand in 2022, I didn’t expect what he would say next. He told me — “This is my gift to you.” Saudi Arabia would shoulder the full P29 billion in unpaid wages owed to over 10,000 OFWs who had been left stranded since 2015.
But we didn’t stop there.

This meeting reaffirmed our shared commitment to peace, maritime security, economic resilience, and a free and open Indo-Pacific
What it means for Filipinos:
Stronger security cooperation to protect our territory and people
Expanded infrastructure and digital economy support
More job-generating investments from trusted allies
In November 2025, we officially launched the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in Foro de Intramuros. In that historic setting, we affirmed our readiness to lead with purpose and responsibility, grounded in our commitment to regional unity and shared progress.
Our theme, Navigating Our Future, Together, reflects our identity as a maritime nation and our belief that ASEAN’s strength lies in collective action. It speaks to steady leadership, common direction, and mutual trust. The official logo symbolizes forward movement, resilience, and partnership, representing both ASEAN centrality and the Philippines’ role in guiding meaningful cooperation.

In 2026, around 900 ASEAN-related meetings will be undertaken, most of which will be hosted in the Philippines. These engagements allow us not only to advance substantive outcomes but also to showcase Filipino hospitality, our rich culture, and the natural beauty of our country to our ASEAN family.
As Chair, the Philippines does more than host.
We lead with clarity, confidence, and a shared vision for a stronger and more united Southeast Asia.
