Remarks by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. After His Visit to the Nuvali Steel Processing Center Inc. (NSPCI) for the Inspection of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Assistance to Align the Company with Industry 4.0 Through the DOST Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP)

Good morning, everyone.

We are here in Nuvali Steel here in Laguna para tingnan ang ating state-of-the-art na processing ng mga piyesa, manufacturing for parts for automobiles, for motorcycles, for different types of machinery.

And the reason that it’s important that we see what’s going on here is because this is probably the state-of-the art of robotics manufacturing here in the Philippines. The products that are coming out of here are already at international standards that are acceptable as suppliers for the major companies – mga automobile, truck, airplane, motorcycle, and other machineries.

They also are industrial suppliers for other companies that build jeepneys and mga… basta’t iba’t ibang kasing machines.

The fascinating thing here is how advanced the robotics is in this factory. And ‘yung naging tulungan ng DOST at saka nung private sector, Nuvali Steel, that has been something new.

But what it is, again, it is government and private sector working hand-in-hand to help private sector to the state-of-the-art so that we can compete on an international level.

Hindi na tayo kailangang mag-import ng kung ano-anong piyesa. Karamihan na ng piyesa na ginagawa na motorsiklo, dito na nanggagaling. And therefore, the value-added stays here. The supply chain is in the Philippines. The supply chain is also being encouraged here in the Philippines.

Because not only do they provide products that satisfy one part of the supply chain, they are also promoting and helping DOST. It’s also promoting all of the players along that supply chain.

Pagka matibay ang supply chain, mas malaki ang production, mas maraming trabaho, mas marami tayong magiging produkto na puwedeng gamitin, again, for assembly of various types of machines.

It is fascinating that the technology is already here and it is fascinating to see the state-of-the-art robotics that actually in an industrial setting. Nakikita natin ‘yung mga robot na mga display-display lang. Ito ‘yung talagang kung saan nila ginagamit na para gumawa ng piyesa.

And it is the advances that have been made in robotics are really quite impressive. So, it’s very good to see. We will do more of this, not only for Nuvali Steel, but also for the other companies.

And we were talking earlier, it’s not just products like these that are made out of steel but also we were talking about what is being used for the citrus, for the production, the helping of the production, harvest, sorting of citrus products in the agricultural setting.

So, makikita natin ito na ‘yung AI, parating na talaga ‘yung AI. At kahit sa mga bukid, makikita na natin ‘yung AI na. But that is the only way so that we can keep up in terms of competition with the rest of the world.

So, this is a very, very important step that we have taken in terms not only of the advancement of the technology, manufacturing technologies but also in the coordination and synchronization between government and the private sector.

So, we congratulate Nuvali Steel for the good work they have done.
